Good afternoon!
I wanted to email to let you all know that I have passed back the Unit 5 tests today. These scores are lower than what students expected on the test. I believe it is because students relied to heavily on the test being exactly like the study guide, instead of using the study guide as a guide to what should be on the test. Therefore, they were misreading a lot of the questions, just assuming what the outcome should be. Due to low scores across all of my classes, I've decided on an in class retake for unit 5. This way, more students will access the retake instead of choosing a low grade over giving up their lunch time. Students were able to get started on their corrections today in class. They have until Tuesday, February 25th to turn in these corrections. Their retake will be in class on Wednesday, the 26th. If your student only needs to only retake a problem or two, chooses not to retake, or doesn't need to due to a high score, I will have an extension activity for them to individually work on that day. Please check Parentvue/Studentvue to see your student's current grades. There are a LOT of missing assignments already for this quarter. If students are not doing the work to prepare (which they get more than enough class time to work on) then they aren't going to be successful on the test. More than half the worksheets that are in the gradebook were broken up to be worked on in class, over multiple days. I feel like I'm giving them more than enough time to work on them, so it's up to them to finish them or ask for help. Please, please, please encourage them to get their work done. If you need extra copies of the assignments, you can find them on my website: msgiobetti.weebly.com As always, please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, Lauren Lawson
