Good afternoon!
As you know, our school is heading into an extended Spring Break. To help with the concern of getting work done, I've decided not to assign any work over this two week break. Instead, I would love for your student to finish any missing work that they have. To do so, they can go to my classroom website: msgiobetti.weebly.com . If you do not have a printer at home, your child can complete the assignments on a separate sheet of paper. If you want to see an updated grade over the break, please email me a picture of their work and I will update accordingly. It would be so nice to come back from the break to see almost all of our missing assignments turned in! In case of an extended break (after April 1st), our district might have to put "online learning" in place. Students who were at school today were able to get signed up for some google classrooms that I had set up in case we need to go this route. If your student was not at school, here are the following class codes: Period 1: wvzdu5h Period 3: s2qwdpd Period 4: rmjnm62 Period 5: g4nsz6t Period 6: tjxccfn If your student is concerned about their Math 7 test that was taken over Thursday/Friday... many students were absent and missed the test, many students missed one day and were not able to finish their test, and my 6th period didn't get one of the testing days due to a speaker we had invited to our building. I'm concerned about waiting until after the break to finish these tests, and don't want students grades to be dramatically changed if they didn't get to finish the test. Therefore, I've decided to hold off on grading the tests. When we return, we will be taking a look over the tests together in class. I'm not completely sure what that will look like yet, but please be calm in knowing that this test will not be impacting student grades. I know that was a concern for many students! If your Accelerated student is concerned about missing the retake for their Unit 7 test, I will follow up with them when we get back from the break about when they would like to complete the retake, this way they can prepare themselves for it. If you would like for your student to get some extra practice over the break over math concepts that we are working on in class, another math teacher in our building, Mrs. Mahar has a great list running of Khanacademy lessons and practice problems (for math 7 AND accelerated 7). Here is where you can access that: https://maharmath.weebly.com/unit-test-information.html This list includes resources from past units as well! Please take advantage of this!! Let me know if you have any questions. I will be available by email over this extended break and will try to get back to you as soon as I can! I hope you and your families are able to stay healthy during this time. Thank you, Lauren Lawson
